Ph: Fantasy: Prince Charming's Lament Poem by Brian Johnston

Ph: Fantasy: Prince Charming's Lament

What is there in life that can come even close to
The dream that comes true when you hold in your arms
The lithe form of a girl you first loved without knowing?
New world in a dance that was born of hearts showing,
In dusk’s fading light you learn more of her charms

What was it that moved me to trust love so quickly
Revealing a heart wanting much more than friend?
When new day comes will trace of the evening still linger…
Like blossoming smiles with the touch of a finger
Emotions that dance when all melodies end.

First evening that flowed so much slower than honey
Is rushing with unseemly pace for the door
Now I hear that she came to the dance in a pumpkin
And with her escape I feel just like a bumpkin
Her slipper of glass all I’m left to adore.
