Pius Adesanmi Poem by Adeosun Olamide

Pius Adesanmi

He was a seed seeking a ground to thrive,
A seed that throws itself into the wind
And wanders into the wilderness
And into the deserts, wandering,
Seeking a ground to soften or harden,
A ground to thrive on

He wanders away from those who owns him,
His family, away from the self

Yesterday they said he died,
In one of those whirlwinds he has often confronted or ventured,
On the course of trying to learn to thrive,
Or on the course of changing this wilderness or desert…

He believed, seeds scattered across the desert,
Can bring about the garden of Eden,
He taught and enlightened us on how we can be about the seeds,
But yesterday, they said he died,
And those great winds and powerful wings,
Who never gave the strength to his course
And who often have swirled powerfully over this desert or wilderness
Chant on about his death not his message.

His message was to them, to all,
The hypocrite, the righteous, the weak, the strong,
The rest there is, the desert, the wilderness...
That now chant loudly varnishing what made him lustre,
They do, echoing it to obscurity,
They do, forgetting he cannot perish
For we that have heard him as you will hear him,
Still hear him in the breeze,
And still feel him struggling within the ruin of the earth,
Trying to thrive, to flourish.

He is in the things or places he has been,
He is not dead.
Those like Pius, like the Prophet Mohammed, like Jesus,
Like Madiba, the greater Luther king,
They never pass away though they die,
For he is a belief, a doctrine, an outlook-
Whose treatise you will find in the places he has been, like here.

All of us who truly desire a better, are his disciples,
Disciples like Judas and Peters
All of us who not merely desire but seek, are his disciples,
Disciples like Peter or Paul

And for those newly coming to the knowledge of him,
He has whole lot to say to you.
His thoughts ever relevant, ever useful, ever guiding,
Are kept in the pages of his book and on his social media pages…
Often come here, to hear him,
Often come, that you may be a seed yourself
And hear him as I still do,
To continue the transformation of this wilderness or desert into Eden

And he like the rest, this is how they continue...
Living on_ in all of us,
It is all that is, that is remarkable, in our wretched courses,
To be the light that is put out.
