Poor Husband, Caught Always Wrong

POOR HUSBAND, CAUGHT ALWAYS WRONG

My learned wife is fierce and steaming
when good many things have gone well, but bare and unnoticed;
over small things that would refuse to change at will,
she would make a hue and cry-on things of no any importance

she prepares the list and I go out, buying sabjis
that day's prices may be high, she chides me for poor bargain
In off-seasons, I may not get some listed ones
she would bounce back that the same is not so in her town

to my bad luck, my 90 kg mother-in-law had a fall and sprain
for which, I was cursed and grilled by both, time and again
as if, I had a hidden rather nasty plan -
In keeping the bathroom floor fine and clean

Once, my Jakarta sister needed some pappad and pickles
without sanctions, I spent nine hundreds in cost and postage
In instant revenge, she snatched from me two new thousands
to be wasted on a wild range of ‘Lakme' nail paints

when the rank sheets of my children arrive -
I fear most to be at the receiving end.
for their careless slips and silly mistakes
she would blast my knowledge and early schooling days

The women have devised the practice so clever,
to hold the men in blame for ever,
for their foolish acts and boastful bonfires
This hapless husbands are caught in the crossfire

At sight, a few of her friends are so very nice and kindly
but, no means to know,
………whether their husbands are pleased and happy;
I keep on to wonder how my hostile wife holds them to her side
may be with her changing tongue…
………….that should be sweet and thorny alike.
