Postpartum Poem by Brittney Miller

Postpartum

Rating: 5.0

Day to night
Light to Dark
Gain to Pain
When the stars come out everyone disappears
I am left with the lonely moon
And I make friends with a broken heart
Fighting back tears
Hiding the truth of my lost soul
Don't ask, because I don't understand
It's different every time
I am not angry, I am not screaming
I still feel my heart falling to pieces
Its pain like no other
It starts in the center of your chest
It spreads to the rest of your body
People think its just in your head
But in truth you feel it through every vain
Of your body from head to toe

Postpartum depression is common in new mothers. If you are indeed suffering from this, your doctor can probably suggest a medication that can help. Best of luck to you!
