Pump Fake Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Pump Fake

Afraid of yesterday for living
In today.
The way you feel in my hands.
I put you up afraid to let go,
The empty spaces between my fingers.
Nowhere to go, a void of memories.
I don't let go afraid I'd be lost.
The way you feel in my hands.
The caress of your body, a dangerous thought
Afraid of where you'll land, afraid of where I'd land.
Not everything bounces back.
The idea of how we were, gone.
Nothing stays the same.
I put you up afraid to let go,
I put you up knowing you deserve more.
I put you up jumping at a dream,
Knowing there's a chance you'll never
Come back.
Someone willing to snatch you away,
Another block, another rebound.
I pump fake protecting you from me,
Protecting you from the rest of the court.
Selfish in the way you feel in my hands.
Not everything bounces back,
Lazy in the way you make me feel.
Knowing I'd have to chase you down,
No one but you & me.
I put you up afraid to let go,
A dangerous thought, afraid of where
You'll land.
Afraid of where I'd land,
Not everything bounces back
