Purple Popcorn Poem by Moth Harris

Purple Popcorn

Eyes blur on the tv screen
I swear no one knows what I mean
The covers were once warm
I hope you know what I mean

At first the waters cold
but it warms up
In the mean time
Settle down and pour a cup

My hand is on the door
My shoes are both laced
I don't know what for
but I don't think it matters anymore

I kick rocks down the street
They roll over one another
I walk to where we meet
I wouldn't want to see any other

I try to talk about how I feel
but the syllables are off cue
So I try to make you a deal
If you don't leave me, I won't leave you

Now the rhyme schemes a mess
but I must confess
This stream of consciousness
Has really got me thinking

So we drive away
Off into candy colored sun
It tastes so sweet
When it's under our thumb
One day that time is done
but we'll remember the taste

Until then lets watch tv
and say it's all a blurr
We'll eat purple popcorn
and never be sure
but I don't think that really matters anymore
