Questions Poem by Lolly Cotterill

Questions

There are questions
still unanswered.
They have never been asked,
perhaps it's better
not to know.
I long to voice,
to say out loud,
query everything
but I dare not.
What will I think,
how will I feel,
if I do,
If I'm brave enough.
Should I allow my thoughts
to be so unruly,
so raucous?
Or shall I quiet them?
Quell the mayhem in my mind,
relentless,
unrelinquishing.
But then the silence
that replaces it
is deafening.
