Rivers are damp;
Acids stain you;
And drugs cause cramp.
Guns aren't lawful;
Nooses give;
Gas smells awful;
You might as well live.

This was the first poem that got me interested in Dorothy Parker....I LOVE to recite it when I'm out with friends...some get it...some think I should get help...HAHAHA

I love this poem. It's a very funny poem about attempted suicides and why its almost too much trouble to try and kill yourself. The matter-of-fact manner in which it's written is great.
