Rain. Poem by Dorcas Tayire

Rain.

The fearful trees flapped their green wings
At the angry circling of the wind.
The sky groaned and left its mouth opened.
Legato beats drummed on rooftops.
Eyes paced anxiously, hastily
Looking out for the nearest safety.
Foots raced hurriedly as the sky's mouth widened
Mouths grumbled out some curses
As hands embraced themselves
To resist the cold from coming in.
