Rain Concert © Poem by Roann Mendriq

Rain Concert ©

Last night, we watched a concert live,
upon the grandest ocean stage;
As flashing stars deigned to arrive,
we watched from our own window cage!

Rain flirted with the ocean wide,
Air kisses on the restless sea;
As stormclouds petulantly cried,
sea tossed her wavy curls to flee.

A curtain spray was lifted high,
to windblown music of the night;
As thunder cymbals clashed in sky,
Lightning arcs a flashed spotlight.

Then slowly dropped a misty veil,
cloaking night in dark mystique;
Enlightened by the moonlight pale,
rain burst off in a fit of pique.

To then begin its dervish dance,
in a grand, tempestuous show;
Swirling, whirling, dripping trance,
to the drumming on the shore.

When every drop of rain was spent,
upon the thirsting waiting lands;
The dancers soaked in frenetic vent.
Our concert's over, clap your hands!
