Rainbow Love Poem by Melissa Franks

Rainbow Love

I look at her because she is my life,
This kind of love not taken easy without a knife,
Holding her I realize my world in my heart,
To this world I do not exist as part,
The blade slides through my skin,
To a side where it will just begin,

He hated me for the colors on my arm,
The sign where other excuse harm,
Rainbow love flowing through my veins,
Causing worth while pain,
I am proud of the colors as they are high in the sky,
For the reasons of hopeful freedom I will not cry,

I take the scars as I wear my wedding dress,
Till I walk down the isle to the one I love to impress,
Her eyes fill with tears as my hand joins hers as one,
And this is the point where happiness begun,
I stood in front of the crowd realizing all the hell I went through,
Just to stand here with the person that made me new,

For this rainbow love flowing in my life,
Makes everything worth while in time,
To love without this judgement is impossibly true,
But the change of perception can always start with you,
