Ramblings On An Empty Page Poem by Jennie Scheihing

Ramblings On An Empty Page

Rating: 5.0

An empty page
Waiting patiently,
Staring blankly
Urging me to write
But how to tell
The story I hold
So deep in my heart
I will let it go
For you to read
Making it a reality
But what will I write
What can I say
How to explain
All the emotion,
Confusion,
Loneliness,
Things I can’t even describe to myself
How can I let you,
The reader,
Understand.

This is impossible
I don’t know what to do
How I will convey
My message to you
The page slowly if filling
With nonsense,
Meaningless words
So why are you still reading?
Why don’t you stop
And leave me to my rambling
Once again alone.

Okay, I will try
To tell you what has happened
I will make this short and sweet
I will at least give it a shot
Because you obviously want to hear
How my life became this way
Silly rambles on a page
That people read and take pity for
Do not have pity for me
Do not try to feel my pain
I just want you to understand
Here I go
I loved him
He did not love me back
I fell
He did not catch me
I cried
He did not know
That is my story
In the simplest terms
Your teenage romance
That breaks you
And rips your heart out
You’ve all been there
And so have I.

In a few short lines
This poem will be done
I want you to look back
And try to relate
We all have problems
We all have pains
We all are strange at times
The nonsense we write
May one day make sense
We will grow
And learn different lessons
That may save us the pain
And the tears
And the heartbreak
But we will still have
That teenage romance
That shaped our young lives
That made us stronger
And ready
To face the big world.

You now may go
Be prepared
For there will always be those
Who will try to break you
Fight
Hold tight
Buckle your belt
And start your engine
Because the only way to advance
And become strong
And independent
Is to take your foot off the brake
And know it will hurt like hell
And will be confusing
And will make you want to quit
But remember,
One day
You will look back
And realize that the hurt
Made you who you are
So be proud of the pain
And let it come
With all its worth
Because you,
My dears,
Are fighters.
