Rape Poem by Yamini Khanna

Rape

The thick of the long summer night
Undressing the windows bare
The room aromatic with waxed light
It's tears glistening down in Voluptuous layers

The wood creaked beneath her weight
The many crystals bellowing above,
Mind drifting to when she became a bait
And the doorway to her dignity trespassed with a shove

The universe looking all dark and grey
The reflection in the mirror staring back ashamed,
Like a moth in the spider web fell prey
For this duel was not her choice of game

Feeble fingers hiding the universe from sight
Preparing to levitate using six yards of drape,
In unison and preparedness to end the fight
For she cannot survive the curse of a rape!
