Real Happiness Poem by Ulysses Cabinatan

Real Happiness

If earthly power can bring happiness
I saw kings
who are mad
And queens who are sad.

If physical beauty can bring happiness
I saw celebrities
very pretty,
yet committed suicide.

If wealth can give happiness
I saw rich gluttons
Suffering from insomnia and depression.

If fame and honor can make one happy
It is as fleeting
As a dandelion fluffed by the wind

Wealth cannot satiate
The hunger of the greedy.
Nor power can make one,
happy and without worry.
And some were ruined
with their honor and worldly glory
