Reaper Poem by Jennifer Cramer

Reaper

I saw death today
He looked kindly with a smile
He tapped his watch
And tipped his hat
As if to say
He’ll be waiting for a while

Thinking all day
Looking back with denial
I carried on and did my chores
And when I looked up
I didn’t know what to say
I saw him standing there in style

He walked up with certain sway
Down the long isle
He tells me my time is up
That I cannot stay
It time to join the immortal biles

I say go away
Death you’re vile
My life isn’t done
I have so much to do
He shook his head and said today
And looked kindly with a smile
