Red Pool Poem by Trevor McLeod

Red Pool

one more time
just one more time
that was all I asked for
I hoped
I prayed
I tried so hard
guess they were all right
that I am nothing
a no one
a nobody
guess this is my fate
you know it doesn't hurt
well right now it doesn't
maybe tomorrow it will
maybe it won't
it only hurts for a moment
easily ignored
though the dripping sensation
can get a bit annoying
it tickles feeling it run down my arm
when it dries it itches
though it not as bad as the healing
just one more
just one more
but it never feels like enough
black has turned to red
what once was silver is turned red
once a slim black and silver color
and now it is a dark red
maybe when I am done
and the wounds doctored
the blade cleaned
the puddle wiped up
I feel light headed
maybe I went to far
the puddle is bigger than last time
the knife once black is stained dark red
I try and stand
but my legs can't lift me
I am so tired
maybe I should sleep right here
though I wish I had a blanket
it feels so cold right now
maybe it will warm up later
maybe......
