We jumped and screamed in delight
When the ice cream man arrived with his cart
ringing the bells from afar
chocolate, vanilla and strawberry
Were the favourite popsicles and ice creams
We walked along the streets licking sugared sticks
The golden moments spend with friends
Are the cherished memories of my childhood
Swings were hung on mango trees
Touched the sky with our feets
Swayed with wind in the fields
Flying paper planes and kites
Blowed the seeds of dandelions which
Carried thoughts to the loved ones
Made paper boats on rainy days
floated in small puddles on the roads
The butterflies and dragonflies fluttered around
The Sweet memories to wrap around
An interesting poem on sweet memories. Really a masterpiece. Thanks
four stars. Cowboy Ron Williams (poet of the poem series Marooned) apparently felt you were a 'sweet memory' when he included your name in parts of his series. Seriously! bri : )
Sweet childhood memories are to be cherished, AS ARE 'sweet memories'. The 'sour memories' are to be regretted and perhaps are best forgotten. bri : )
A lovely poem depicting the unforgettable joys, jubilations, and unmeasured ecstasy of children is so nicely penned. The images like ice creams, paper boats are sheer elements of joys. Written from heart..!! I love and appreciate the piece of work
In delight! ! With the muse of the light of life. Thanks for sharing this poem with us.
Many of the things I did as a child, though, sadly, we don't have Mango trees. Such a fine evocation of childhood, paper boats, dandelions, etc. I'm still an Ice-cream fanatic! I think this poem is just about to join my list of favourites, Rini!
