Reverence Through Fear Of Poem by Francis Duggan

Reverence Through Fear Of

You say your God is great and him you do revere
If this be so then him why do you fear
So much that on his behalf you do wish on others ill
And for fear of him you would not hesitate to kill.

To your God you do pray and his praises you do sing
But reverence due to to fear of is not a healthy thing
Yes reverence through fear of does seem rather odd
How can you love one you fear and that includes God.

In your search for your God a cruel God you did find
Remove the dark shades that keeps light from your mind
And allow the God in there who is loving and kind
Just On listening to you talking to love you are blind.

You do cast the stone but are you free of sin
You who ignore the beauty of your God within
The God you say you fear and love and who moves you to prayer
Is the God of division of the big World out there.
