Rating: 5.0

For extra water
for extra numbers
the height of dam walls
is rising around Adelaide.

Were the 'ia' ending 'Australia'
'eed' instead,
for rising seas and human greed,
the peoples of the Pacific
would be resettled in Australeed.

As it's Australia,
not Australeed,
they'll be brought here
for the rise and human failure.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Picture of dam concerned.
I'm not quite sure capacity will increase, as the SA Water website says it's to strengthen the wall against earthquake and to widen the spillway to reduce risk of flooding. I don't know if the spillway has been raised. Anyway, it should be.
COMMENTS OF THE POEM

The height of dam wall is brilliantly perceived and focused with tender observation. Rising around Adelaide, the height is motivated. This poem is very brilliantly penned. Thank you very much for sharing this.10
