Ripples Of The Heart Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Ripples Of The Heart

That was the last time I saw her
Her hands were cold
No longer warm, the way I remember
It was warm that day
The breeze soon picked up
The clouds were grey as they enveloped into each other
Shortly, lightning followed
She seemed distant
Lost in the conversation that soon streamed from her eyes
Distraught
She spoke as the leaves tussled
Was I still the same
Were the touches that were once known now unfamiliar
Was I still someone that you could love
The wind blew timidly
Shivers gave way as they traced our skin
Remnants of the times we shared
We alone as the world faded into a single thought
Drowned out by the cries that screamed each others name
At once I grasped her cold hand
Were we still the same
Her eyes just stared
For once we were magnets
Magnets that couldn't move
Couldn't breathe without each others touch
Lost in each other as everything else languished that wasn't her
Her eyes would ignite the sun each day
Without reason to extinguish
As without her stare it was just a marble
Lost without direction
Motionless
Lifeless
She just stared as time rushed into the ripples her eyes left behind
Deep ripples that crashed into my soul
Just as that of the waves that crash into the jagged shoreline
That was the last time I saw her
As her breath paused before my eyes
