Road to Black

I try to stay
above the clouds
the clear view
intellectual O2

But I get distracted
It's a song
calling me away
to somewhere
long ago

And I find
my feet stuck
in muck
quick sand
is not quick
slow drown

I get lost
in the clouds
blinded by white haze

I hear the melody
humming....
It steals my
attention

To a memory
of unremembered things
places
I've never been
people
I've never met
words
I've never spoken
