Road Trip Poem by Robert Gilchrist

Road Trip

The Mitsubishi is full of gas
98 octane of purest grade
L plates affixed to front and rear
Designer sunnies donned and clean
Seat and mirrors adjusted to perfection
Spotify playlist checked and playing
Road Trip!
Where to go … Byron or Maleny
Maybe Toowoomba if we have the time
She is hungry … we should stop for coffee
Samford village fills the bill
Water stop in Woodford
Deep and meaningful conversation
Toilet stop in Kilcoy
Unexpected detour via Esk and Crows Nest
Pull over for summer deluge
T intersection catches us again
Stalled at the Danish bead stop
We crash a holiday craft class
More food and creative supplies
Satisfaction guaranteed
Down the divide behind the trucks
Contented silence, no need for chat
Gatton, Ipswich, Ashgrove on autopilot
Home again home again
Don't forget to fill in the Log
