Robbing Lungs Poem by Beverley Katherine

Robbing Lungs

I see you walking toward me
and I'm frightened of your smile
rows of glistening teeth that rob my lungs
you are beautiful when you are glad

I see you face me
with eyes shining like daytime stars
suddenly blinded
by your focused sunshine.

I feel your palm upon my cheek
your fingers graze my neck
your face is mussed in concentration
you are beautiful, when you think.

I feel your sun, your skin on mine
I've felt them thousands of times
moments like these will never quell
until we are near and safe.

You take my hand
and in my blindness the caress feels
like a thousand stars, shooting out my fingertips.
You are beautiful, when we are together.
