Room To Grow Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Room To Grow

I've realized that I've been selfish
Cultivating my garden of you.
Not once have I attempted
To propagate how you feel
or whisper to you the way I used to
But instead force you to grow in one
direction.
That direction being the furthest
From me.
I've watered you in affection
And fertilized you with
My heart.
Season after season,
I was the one to change.
Not realizing
You needed room to grow
