Runnin' Poem by Winsy Tink

Runnin'

Rating: 2.0

I'm runnin’, runnin’
Along the sandy beach – I’m runnin’
The line that divides land, sea and sky
‘Cos I’m chasin’ a dream that’s not so far beyond
If I follow the seagull’s cry

And in this dream
I’m runnin’, runnin’
Towards a forgotten but familiar voice that’s callin’,
Urgin’ me to keep goin’ till I come
Into open arms and a welcome sigh

And somethin’s chasin’, chasin’
After me along the sandy beach
And away from it I’m runnin’, escapin’,
‘Cos it’s the coward who’ll only ever say and not be
And it’s worth the while to be vulnerable and free

So I keep runnin’, runnin’
For dear life towards that imagined destination –
The spirit is willin’, the flesh is weak,
And the stretch of sand so far beyond

But I’m still runnin’ – chasin’ a dream –
Kickin’ the sand, leavin’ a mark –
Just to remind you on the day you come by –
I, too, was here – once upon a time.
