Sacrificial Lamb Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Sacrificial Lamb

After supper with his disciples
Jesus went alone to pray
And in the garden spoke to his Father
Lord God Almighty.

In deep anguish of spirit prayed
Sweat on brow was blood
For he knew torture and death awaited him
When Judas betrayed him with a kiss.

He did not ask his Father in Heaven
Send an army of angels to save him
But for strength to offer himself
As sacrificial lamb for Mankind.
