Sailing Poem by Dereck Gibbs

Sailing

Drifting listlessly
On a flow of dreams
I lie on my back
Staring at the sapphire blue sky

Fantasies visiting ever so often
My companions
On this ship of isolation
I long for more

I am weak
I wallow in feelings of self pity
My hand skimming the strangely quiet waters
Deceptively quiet…

Vultures await my demise
Those vile beings,
Waiting for another to perish
To die alone
My destiny on this ship

Sailing alone into oblivion,
I long to feel your touch once more
I yearn to touch you there
I want, no I crave you

I thirst after your loving embrace
To enjoy a soothing night on your bosom
Staring at this sparkling night sky
To kiss you, to cleave to you, to call you my one and only
