Scorched Denial Poem by Dakota Ellerton

Scorched Denial

I can look at you with glass eyes,
and you'd still turn a shoulder.
Pretending again,
as if I weren't there.
I'd beg and beg,
'Please..... don't hurt me'.
But you'd of done it just the same.
Selfishness is human,
but a lie merely man made.
It doesn't have to be your true nature,
though it's almost fitting now.
The nightmares you've given me,
the name to a face.
Say it in my ear...
I can hardly breathe,
my heart is racing,
as my flesh burns.
Just a couple more.
20....21...22
It stops my heart when the burning metal pierces my flesh.
Scorching pain shives through my air,
it's a relief I craved, among others.
Your name in invisible ink,
now carved into my skin.
Everyone will see what's happened,
everyone will know.
You're either masked or not.
With nightmares clouding my thoughts,
I wake up with a beautiful sensation.
I feel as if I'm already dead.
