Sea Dancer Poem by Nancy Crossman

Sea Dancer

When evening shadows grow long
And the restless sea creeps onto the shore
Sea dancer shivers in anticipation…
Her silhouette is graceful and surreal
In the last remnants of daylight
That cling desperately to the western sky
Blending into the shadows neath the rising moon
She pirouettes like a ballerina, reaching into the salty air
Touching the wind with her fingertips
She teases the moon with her guile
Hair like a swirl of midnight caresses
Her neck is perfectly sculpted
Errant curls dance naughtily
Upon her pale naked shoulders
Beyond beautiful she’s a dark masterpiece
A creature of the sea and the earth and the wind
In daylight she’s a prisoner of imagination
But when the setting sun gives way to the rising moon
Her restless spirit seeks solace
She is darkness! She belongs to the night
And she dances along the shore searching…
Spirit alive with malevolence
Waiting…waiting…
