Sea Of Sanity Poem by Suzanne Hayasaki

Sea Of Sanity

Come stand with me
Under a canopy
Of shooting stars
And red nebulas.

Look up with me
At the vastness
The blackness
The purity
Of the sea of sanity.

Forget with me
The workaday world
With its tumult and turmoil
And worried faces
Hurrying to meetings
Without meaning

Never reaching
A destination
Where they can rest
Satisfied in their efforts
Safe in their self-estimation
Ready to surrender themselves
To themselves.

Lay back on the grass with me
And gaze up at the new moon.
Let the hidden heavenly body
Remind you of the invisible.
Let it be a physical symbol
Of the cyclical.

Then kiss me
And let the rest melt away
In the heat of my embrace.

A fan of sanity, I just read this one again, Suzanne. Yes, we need to keep ourselves available to creation. This time I think of Psalm 19 (I like how it reads in The Message) and Whitman’s “When I heard the learned astronomer.” -Glen

a nice invitation, suzanne. the field of stars leads me as well to the grateful right side of my brain. and add the physiological connection to intimacy, and you've created a memory to visit for sanity. -glen
