Searching Poem by Raymond J Wright

Searching

I thought that I could save you,
Or was it you could save me?
I really can’t remember
And it doesn’t matter anyway
Maybe I was searching
For an arm around me
Entwine your legs within mine
Wrap yourself around me
Not for something carnal
Just hold me while I sleep
For someone to hear me dreaming
To understand my fears
And the reality behind them
For someone who’ll believe
That I have something yet to give
something yet to do
And something worth a damn
I thought that I could know you,
Or was it you could know me?
I really can’t remember
And it doesn’t matter anyway
I guess that I was searching
And I’m sure it doesn’t matter
