Secret Kiss Poem by Keli Mims

Secret Kiss

Nervous, I walk down the empty hall,
And multiple times I almost fall.
I do anything to get away and be alone,
I look down to read your text off my phone.
I walk, scared of tripping over my feet,
Faster, my heart pounds it's beat.
I glance down at the floor,
Then I reach for that familiar door.
Anxiety took over as I walked into the room,
Something amazing or a friendship's doom.
Rationalizing for a moment, I was unsure,
For a second I didn't want to do this anymore.
I'm looking at anywhere but at you,
I say I'll only do it if you really want to.
I look at you and our eyes meet,
I try but I can't seem to move my feet.
My arms wrap around your neck,
We jump in not even starting with a peck.
Your arms w around me, holding me,
There goes my doubts, any of my anxiety.
You're leaned in with your mouth on my lips,
Locked in a new and different kiss.
I start to stumble, clumsy me,
Any longer I wouldn't be able to get free.
Getting caught up in our secret kiss.
