Secretly Inside Poem by Robert Peacock

Secretly Inside

I sit here helpless
In my chair
With just one look
A frozen stare

Day by day
We fight it out
A nasty look
An angry shout
Love’s turned into
A selfish bout

Pretending desperately
Not to try
While secretly
Inside I cry

I see a little
Every day
Another piece
Just slips away

Who’s left behind
It’s hard to say
I stop my heart
And start to pray
What’s left of you
Is here to stay

Pretending desperately
Not to try
While secretly
Inside I cry

I've watch you suffer
You take it well
You don’t show it
But I know its hell

Your body fails
Your minds not clear
You second-guess
Your deepest fear
Don’t lash out
Just hold me near

Pretending desperately
Not to try
While secretly
Inside I cry

It’s not that easy
To be your man
To sit here helpless
Without a plan

To be blamed
For all that’s going wrong
But I’m not the one
Who wrote this song
I ‘m just the fool
Who sings along

Pretending desperately
Not to try
While secretly
Inside I cry
