Senses Poem by Jeri Martindale

Senses

Rating: 1.5

I hear them, the waves crashing upon the shore, as silently I lay, my thoughts explore. Naked my body lies on the sand; I can feel the waves underneath me though I’m on land. My eyes are closed, I appear to dream, only I’m not asleep, just lying soaking up the warmth, listening to the songs the waves sing.

I smell it, the fresh sea air blowing around me, touching my skin softly as it breathes. I feel the spray of the sea splashing upon my bare feet; I know she will soon ask me to open my eyes, to see the endless waters, untamed and uncontrolled, reaching out to feel the warmth of the sand falling down softly touching the beach.
