Set It All On Fire Poem by jason medina

Set It All On Fire

Let the night expire
I set myself on fire
I ignite everything I once was
and might never have been
Set it off from within

Now I may have been many things
but I have never been me
Believe in what you are
lest you live in life's deceit
Believe in me and my dreams
and maybe once again my time can be

For now; I spend my time longing
longing to bleed,
longing to breathe
Longing for these lonely dreams to mean something.
Anything

So let the night expire
I set myself on fire
I ignite everything I once was
and might have been
Set it off from within

I use to have nightmares of what I once was
And of what I may never be
I've carried it all with me
For it is everything I once was that has kept me in fear
And its everything I might have never been that I hold near.
And with the dawn I set it all on fire.
The old me will burn away
and the flames will lift me to places on higher.

To everything I might have never been
had I not set it off from within.

Beautifully expressed. Believe in what you are lest you live in life's deceit. So true.
