In my dejection
My soul besieged
Heavy and weary
I sought release
From her embrace
To arrest the misery
The blue water sparkle
Beckoned me thither
Gentle waves smiling
Whispering my name
Her hands extended
Upward to receive me
But a hand stilled me
With a soothing voice
A song of consolation
Of better tomorrows
And encouraged me
To remain aground
I found the strength
To wave her goodbye
