Shared Moments

SHARED MOMENTS

People are asking me
If there is something going on
Between us;
But there is nothing going on
Not even anything
Certainly not everything.
I wish there was something.

It was over many moons ago
Despite your tears and my implorings.
We are now further apart
Than we were ever closer.
Parallel lines never cross
Nor do they ever meet
We are now history
Our love dying a thousand deaths
Without reaching its apogee.

But we were close once
Two hearts beating as one
Two souls in harmony
Two minds in perfect symphony
I wish we were something now
Even anything
Rather than nothing.
I recall those shared moments
During which you wept
So intimate and precious……..
