Shattered Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Shattered

interesting how it's you who feels hurt and betrayed
when it was you who turned your back on me
As I'd believe those lies of you having loved me
when you loved me none
you've used me for your own personal gain
Abusing the name of love and using it in vain
I look at you now with disdain
Have my heart feeling sharp unwanted pains
you've shattered me into a million pieces
you've shown no sympathy towards the pain you've inflicted upon me
How can you be, only to me, were you so cold
it's true, everything that glitters isn't gold
I promise to myself i never want to hurt again
instead I should maintain my position
to guard my heart against those whose intentions are insincere
i can no longer allow myself to give one hundred percent of myself being the only one willing to make things work in order to make things last forever
share with me whatever hiding nothing
if I will myself to work with you
you should be trying to do the same too
