She Was My Every Day Poem by Ray Hansell

She Was My Every Day

I know how much I loved you
The day you went away
It hurts deep inside
I don't know what to say

All I want to do
Is just sit and cry
But I know you wouldn't want that
You'd rather I just say goodbye

Letting go is not easy
That's the one thing I'm learning
But memories of you
Will always keep returning

I know I'll miss you very much
More than you could ever know
And I know you wouldn't like it
Because I let my sadness show

I'll never forget that first time
When we met at Subway
I looked at you and I said
How beautiful you look today

You always looked as beautiful
Every day since then
I wish that I could tell you
Just one more time again

But I didn't get the chance
To hold you one last time
That is something that forever
Will weigh upon my mind

It was because of Covid-19
That we had to stay away
It hurts to know you passed alone
On that sad and unforgettable day

One thing the world should know is
I'll think of you each day
And when I do I'll smile
As your memory will chase the clouds away
