Hour by hour their friendship grows
secretly, silently, as the river flows
together forever in all they do
gentle tranquility, fond and true.

At light of day, such loyalty shows
with smiling eyes, happiness glows
waking to see sweet blossoms fair
with the perfume from a jardiniere

Year by year the love seed grows
a velvety petal of the red-red rose,
it sends a message, soft and clear
'shed no tear for me; just love me dear'
