Shine On Poem by Richard Jarboe

Shine On

You gotta shine that li'l ol' light from within,
You gotta shine that li'l ol' light from within,
When you reach the end and you ain't got no friend,
You gotta shine the li'l ol' light from within.

This light don't come from no kerosine,
This light don't come from no coal,
This light don't need no diesel fuel,
This light runs on soul.

I know it sounds like a cliche,
You hear people say it everyday,
'When you reach the end, you gotta get goin' again.'
Shine that li'l ol' light from within.

This light comes from hope for a better day,
This light comes from dreams of a better way,
When you reach the end and you gotta get goin' again,
Shine that little old light from within.

This light is your medicine,
It illuminates your fate,
This light is your measurement,
Of how you radiate.

You gotta shine that li'l ol' light from within,
So take a turn and be a glow worm.
