Paranoid mysophobic pandemic
Society expects
To be seen to be clean
Actors, is all we are
Playing parts in a pristine tragedy
Polishing the edges of a perfect square
Sally Do-gooder seeks gratitude
Every selfless deed is a self serving act
Let me help means I want to interfere
Nobody asks
So she always volunteers
A fool for good intention
In the problems of others
She escapes her own
With the bitterness of pity
The milk of human kindness sours
She lives in a void
Charity begins at home
Johnny Conscientious works well
Ambitions slave
All he ever wanted was to be employee of the month
He’s a company man
Going nowhere
Ever diligent
He looks and sees with the bosses eyes
His comradeship sank long ago
Now he gives Judas kisses with tongue stained brown
Mr and Mrs Ordinary live parallel lives
The space between is always the same
Sterile
Martyrs to their cause
They sacrifice Sundays
Paying homage to the immaculate misconception
Father, son and holey premise
Losing yourself to temperance is the biggest gamble of all
