How do I tell you
I still love you
The same as the first day
I laid eyes on you
Young, foolishly….
Completely
How do I tell you
That every mile away
Is a stark reminder
Of every degree of depression
I suffer from
Every mile too far
Do I neglect to mention
That there’s an undercurrent of you
In every thought that passes through
My disorganized mind
Or that every song is sad
Despite beats
That every lyric reminds me
Of you
Do I mention it
Or keep the silence
That threatens to engulf me
So you can go on living happy
Without ever knowing
My misery….
What does this fool do
Just to please you
You just may
Never know
