Silence & Cashmere Poem by L. K. Thayer

Silence & Cashmere

it took a long time
to thread the needle…
I too, have been coming
apart at the seams
torn
shredded by time’s
dull blade

my circle of friends
narrows
my hummingbird wings
carry me to fewer
petals…
I don’t linger as long
small-talk isn’t as sweet

my patience has
worn thin
like a serpent
shedding it’s skin
I am restless
yet, stillness
soothes me

I am comforted by
silence
and cashmere
and feeling
loved
by a select few
who tell me
they do
