Silver Blade Poem by Anna Montgomery

Silver Blade

Rating: 5.0

The sea is hungry
The waves are crashing
The storm is pounding
Beating the earth's heart
The savage beauty
that tears holes into the sky
The tears that could fill the ocean
The hatred that burns the sky
They never see what's in front of them
Only what's been
They cover their sight with lies
The savage beauty of life
But it's all taken for granted
The air they breathe
The things they see
For if a world such as ours,
If it were a dagger
The beauty gleams on a silver blade
But if it tips the wrong way
They'll find out in a quick way
Of what the world has to say
They will open their eyes
Blink away the gray disguise
They will see what they've done
To our home
The destruction that's been made
The pain in the earth's heart
The way the ocean bleeds
The way the land cracks up
They will see what they've done
Then maybe, just maybe
They'll learn to stop
