Hanque O . . .

What do you think this poem is about?

Silverbacks

for Michael, of course

-

I extend my hand.
Will you have this dance?
The rain is coming down like rain.

Two silverbacks dancing
cheek to cheeky
in the midnight storm—

wit, witty, wittier, wittiest, witless.
The rain asked,
what is the rain?

The storm asked,
what is the rain?
The rain said,

a lesser version of you, sir?
You got that right, sonny boy,
said the storm.

Two wet old men dancing in the rain,
getting in the last laugh.
