Sinking - Poem by B.. Alexander

I'm a rat aboard a sinking ship
I'm an I.C.Q in bad reception
Below the surface I suffocate
It's brain-damage, not death, I fear

I'm a rat aboard a sinking ship
I'm a puncture in the life preserve
Miles from land, I'm submerged
It's the boat, not I, they'll mourn

I'm a rat aboard a sinking ship
I'm alone and held below
Almost out of breath
It's infamy, my legacy, I fear

It's the vessel, not I, they'll mourn
It's the ship, not I, they'll mourn

I'm a rat aboard a sinking ship
I'm a man who can not swim
I'm going down...
I'm going down...to drown...
