Slips And Slurs Poem by Maya Hanson

Slips And Slurs

Slips and slurs
I fall on the sidelines
Loosen my tongue

What came first…
was it the homeward bound
or the air in my lungs

Why hide your words?
Expletives unused,
but I'll take your side

Need to be heard
We skip out on sleeping,
can't stop the slide

Worlds fall away
I'll give you a feeling
it's not too late

And crazy's okay
as long as the slips and slurs
all come out straight
