Sm029, The Mother And The Ashram Poem by Rajaram Ramachandran

Sm029, The Mother And The Ashram

THE MOTHER OF PONDICHERRY

In joining Sri Aurobindo's order,
It was the intension of the Mother,
To change all the lives on Earth,
By driving them in the Divine path.

During 1926, for this purpose,
For the benefit of all devotees,
She had opened the Ashram,
In Sri Aurobindo's good name.

By restricting the admission,
To a selected few among men,
For their stay inside the Ashram,
Visitors many were allowed to come.

The devotees staying in Ashram
She knew every one of them
As they were all devoted to her
In their several births earlier.

This Ashram, she felt, could house
The new civilization of a new race
Of supermen raised from ordinary men,
As they all grew up under the Divine.

It was tried as an experiment,
In which man was aiming at
Conquering his hidden animal spirit,
Despite his spiritual advancement.

This, she said, was a transformation,
Of an ordinary man to superman,
Which miracle can strictly happen,
Only by the mercy of the Divine.

The total surrender of a man,
To the feet of merciful Divine
Is the only course of action,
To achieve this transformation,

Besides her care on human beings
She cared more for animals and trees
In the gardens, that influenced more
Her roles and responsibilities further.

She ‘s still the Mother of all lives,
As she's showering her love always,
Besides her blessings and grace,
Every blessed day, on all her devotees
