Small Boat Floating On River Miluo

By LIU-YongTranslated by East Sea Fairy

A small boat floating in River Miluo with a sail flying back and forth,
harbors temporarily
on opposite of bank north
A mournful reed pipe melody flowing out of the isolated border city
at sundown, stirs a flock of wild geese perching on the shore of the water of vitality
that stretches on unendingly. Folded is the wood green and in a mist murky and mystique.
Unfold is the mountain landscape as screen picturesque and pretty
that dwarves the yonder mountain peak
as a maid's brows thin and weak.

Parting from my sweetheart recklessly I've been in exile here.
Well beyond the full bloom of youth, in my old age hoary,
I feel it a travel rather weary and drear
Fabulous is the foreign scenery,
But in my sorrowful eyes it appears desolate and dreary.
Remote is the capital. Far away is my lassie, so no news of her out I seek.
Stretches out beyond the horizon the grassland green and grassy.
In twilight mild and meek,
I'm like a drifting cloud for I have no news from my Fair sleek.
